You can select any tile on the map by navigating the selector to the desired position. If you select a building a quick-info appears above it. It shows the produced resource icon and a yellow bar indicating the building's storage fill level. When selecting a scenery tile the quick-info shows what resources you can find there and how much of the resources are left. By the way, there is another selector navigation available. You can change this option in the in the settings menu under Alternate Controls. Occasionally, a message symbol appears on the screen in case of an important message. On key press the message opens.

Be sure to produce enough food for your Townies. Do not rely on only one kind of food. It is better to produce all three kinds (fish, water, meat). Many buildings require wood in order to produce their goods. Most of the time, you will need more than one forester. Lumber and stones are needed to upgrade your buildings. Upgraded buildings are able to produce more goods in the same period of time, yet require more upkeep and may require tools for their production cycle. Only active buildings are accounted for mission goals. An upgraded harbor can store more resources. Be careful when expanding your town and keep an eye on your food production. If you are caught in a food shortage no building can work anymore and the balance of your production chain is disturbed. Your attitude influences the actions of the natives towards you. If you have a high attitude, the natives build temples for you and offer you better trades. At a low attitude the natives spread out and conquer areas and buildings. You can liberate these areas by attacking them with soldiers. As soon as a soldier arrives there, a fighting screen will be displayed.

Seafaring
Once you have built a shipyard you can send out merchant or pirate ships depending on your attitude. After their return you can see the goods obtained in an overview screen. They will be brought to the harbor storage.

Upkeep
Each building requires upkeep to work properly. Every 10 days the needed resources are taken from the harbor storage. If the harbor does not have enough resources, the productivity of the building that requires the resources will go down. This will slowly cause the upkeep cost to go down to 0 and the building's production switches to sleep mode. In order to restart the production the needed resources have to be in the harbor storage. In case of emergency the needed resources can be bought at merchant ships with gold. You can get gold from the natives by trading with them. If neither the natives nor the merchants are an option you may have to demolish buildings. Some of the resources used to construct these buildings will be refunded then.
